SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 16:1-7

…Very early when the sun had risen, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb.  They were saying to one another, "Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"

When they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back; it was very large. On entering the tomb they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe, and they were utterly amazed. He said to them, "Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him. But go and tell his disciples and Peter,  'He is going before you to Galilee;  there you will see him, as he told you.'"
 

Meditation: Try to answer as many questions as possible

1.       What did they want to do when they reached the tomb of Jesus?  What were they worrying about?  What were they expecting to find there? 

2.       Who is this young man?  How is Jesus of Nazareth characterized?  Where is he now?  What happened to him?  What is the proof of this? 

3.       Why is Jesus going to Galilee?  What is so special about Galilee for the disciples (refer to Mk. 1:16)?  How would the reaction of the disciples be when they know that Jesus will meet them in Galilee?      

By Heart: Reflect on this in light of your daily life situation

Dear friends, through the paschal mystery we have been buried with Christ in baptism, so that we may rise with him to a new life. Now that we have completed our Lenten observance, let us renew the promises we made in baptism when we rejected Satan and his works, and promised to serve God faithfully in his holy catholic Church. And so:

-          Do you reject sin, so as to live in the freedom of God’s children?  I DO.

-          Do you reject the glamour of evil, and refuse to be mastered by sin?  I DO.

-          Do you reject Satan, father of sin and prince of darkness?  I DO.

-          Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth? I DO.

-          Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father? I DO.

-          Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting? I DO.

Intercessions:

1.       That the joy of the Risen Christ may inspire leaders of the Church to witness to the new life which the resurrection promises.

2.       That people in the world may receive new hope and life through the resurrection of Jesus and be strengthened in their faith.

3.       That the people who remain in darkness of sin may be touched by the Risen Jesus who removes all sin and darkness.

4.       That we may come to experience the peace and joy of the Risen Lord and continually strive to work for justice and peace
