The Teresian Carmelites
- better known as The Carmelites
- Founded in Spain in the 16th century by
St. Teresa of Avila, the Teresian Carmelites are probably
the best known of all cloistered Orders of women. From the
original foundation at Avila, this branch of the Carmelite
Reform movement spread throughout the world and has numbered in
its ranks - many
Saints.
- In our Monastery, our lives revolve around
the Eucharist. Our way of life comprises of the full Divine
Office, recreation, work, seep, eating and all the requirements
of daily living and administration. In order to support
ourselves financially, we make Altar Bread or communion hosts
for the whole Diocese and sew Vestments.
- Faithful to Our Holy Mother St. Teresa who
died saying "I am happy to die a daughter of the Church", our
zeal embraces:
- The urgent needs of the Church, most
especially we are committed to our own diocese .
Special prayers daily for all our priests.
- The needs of a world bent on destroying
itself through nuclear power.
- The needs of people /society harassed by
insecurity and fear.
- Daily we strive to stand before God, lifting
up all needs as Carmel is essentially ecclesial and apostolic.
We live for the Church and for all people.
