Church Groups and Ministries

Our parishes are very active with a large number of groups servicing the parishes and a wide community. As a member of this community, you are expected to take part or join in at least one group or ministry to strengthen your faith. Please check with your local parish priest or catechist for the groups available near your church or suburbs.  
 

ALTAR SERVERS

Prepare for Eucharistic celebration and assist the Celebrant at Mass and liturgical celebrations.
Set exemplary behaviors to provide opportunities for young Catholic boys and youth to serve God and the Parish.
 

  EXTRA-ORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

Help with Holy Communion during Masses; and bring Holy Communion to the sick and homebound parishioners.

 

BIBLE STUDY AND REFLECTION GROUP

This group meets regularly to reflect on the Gospel and contemporary issues

 

   

COMMENTATOR
The commentator leads the prayers of the community and makes the announcements regarding parish activities.


 

MUSIC MINISTRY -CHOIRS

Leads our community in sung prayer at all Masses
“To sing is to pray twice” – ST AUGUSTINE –
Sing hymns of praise & thanksgiving, and psalms during Masses on weekends, days of obligation, special days and feast day.

 

 

ROSARY GROUPS

Home visitations, public contact, lead weekly rosary and novena, Grotto rosary, minister to the handicapped, the aged, the sick, and the deceased and disseminate Catholic literature
 


Cell groups are the basic home-based groups in the church. Cell groups serve a combined role of friendship building, mutual support and training, discipleship and fellowship.

  BULLETIN TEAM AND THE WEB

Prepare bulletin on a weekly basis.  Need computer skills with word processing/publishing and internet software

 
CATECHISTS
Catechists serve through teaching, witness, prayer, service and building community. Catechists minister to adults, youth and children in a variety of locations and programs: parish faith formation & religious education programs, youth ministry programs, sacramental preparation, RCIA, family programs, Scripture study, and more. Through word and example, catechists teach the Catholic faith and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

 

  FLORAL TEAM

Arranges and decorates the sanctuary with flowers.
CHURCH WARDENS

The ministry of Ushering is a vital part of any church ministry. Ushers represent the church in a very visible way, and help set the tone in preparation for the worship service, as well as assist with the smooth operation within the service.
 

 

  READERS MINISTRY


The readers in this Ministry proclaim the first and second readings at Mass. 
PRAYER MEETING

This is a regular gathering, apart from the Mass, whereby participants praise & worship the LORD freely & spontaneously. There is also teaching from the Bible & personal sharing. A great place to grow in faith & holiness! 

  CHURCH CLEANLINESS MINISTRY

Cleaning & sweeping the Church (House of God) is a humble service but it brings forth a pleasant environment of worship.
